Warning #2 - I don't know what your background is, but a multistage high voltage Marx generator is an extremely ambitious undertaking. Triggering and erection can be capricious, and can depend hugely on the geometric distribution of the components. If you can find it, a book called "High Power Electronics" put out by Tab a few years ago discusses some of these problems. If you go for 600kV, the whole shebang will need to be in a tub of oil or else be spread out over a large area, with spheres, graded surfaces, etc.
