You are correct....You heard correctly.
However, forget it.
The D-D fusion which begets a gamma, fuses to common old helim 4! This requires energies in the millions of electron volts. You will not have to worry about that reaction at all, ever!!!
It is a dreamland fusion so far as any fusor is concerned, but nonetheless, one of the real reactions possible at the outer limits of fusion.
