The book entitled "Project Sherwood" by Amasa Bishop, 1958 is a history of the secretive beginnnings of the US thermonuclear fusion power research effort. (1951-1958) It details the work by one of "their own". It is superb! The Capillary fusion notes are great and still interesting. Know the history, or be doomed to repeat it.

P.S. It was Bishop who blew the Farnsworth Team, namely Robert Hirsch, out of the Fusor business. He nixed and objected to the funding of the fusor effort at the superb demo of the fusor in 1968 given by Hirsch before the AEC. Bishop had massive clout in the 50's and 60's.
