Cannot post a 12MB pdf even though the supposed file limit is 25MB.

Post by JoeBallantyne »

I found a very useful reference that I tried posting, but was unable to, as I got a "file too large" error, even though the supposed limit is 25MB.

Can we fix the file size limit check on posts so it matches what is claimed in the UI? (ie: 25 MB)

I think the way it ought to work is that there is a 25MB limit on any post, and the size of all attachements is added up, and when the sum will exceed 25MB further attachments are not allowed. This is clearly not how it works now. I suspect there is some very low limit (like 2MB or 2.5MB on the size of each individual attachment). IMO that should be fixed.

Thanks.

I had checked the backend and all looked good. There should not be an issue with up to 20 attachments totally now 50MB.

Note that I am trying to make this post in the Books and References section. Not sure if that makes any difference.

I made a change but not sure it will resolve it. Joe, could you please try a test post in the Images Section or another section that you have successfully posted pictures.

Don't worry about deleting it, I will take care of it.

Richard, please do not delete what Joe posts.

Trying to post a 12MB pdf by lying about the file extension and seeing if it will let me post as a .jpg.

It does.

So the problem is that there is a list of allowed file types for large files and .pdf is not in the list.

It is appearing that PDFs are allowed as documents. They will however not open. Documents apparently cannot be viewed in this version of phpbb.

I have changed the protocol to categorize them as downloadable. They seem to be working for me so if somebody else that is not an administrator give it a go please.

Testing... OK, works now for me too.

I will now make my post in the correct forum.

Thanks for fixing this Frank!
