So Webb's NIR camera is working well and it not only made a selfie of its mirror array but got an image of a star from each and every mirror segment all displayed on the detector. Now the process of aligning and then getting all the wave fronts in sync starts.

The WST has gotten the 18 mirrors aligned such that the 'guide/alignment' star appears centered in all 18 mirrors. Their progress is well ahead of schedule and their success is continuing. I do believe that they produce high quality images this spring, rather then summer.

WST is moving forward and continues to improve against their original scheduled time line. They have successfully completed a first order star image correction on all separate mirrors and then stacked all these images from each of the 18 mirror segments into one star image. See:
