Vlasov-Poisson Equation
I have recently obtained a copy of George H Miley's "Life at the center of the Energy Crisis" where he discusses his work with regard to fusion over the course of his long career. A section of the book on fusor's and IEC mentions that Farnsworth had a specific derivation of the Vlasov-Poisson equation, I assume the derivation is included in some of the Farnsworth archives already posted here (which I have), but is anyone aware of any papers or exposition surrounding either the Vlasov-Poisson equation in general or Farnsworth's specific derivation? I plan on attacking the math when I have a bit of free time but I always find it easier to look for a good gentle introduction first.

Re: Vlasov-Poisson Equation
Hello Nicolas,
According to my books, there are:
* a Poisson equation (div(E)=density of charges/Epilson),
* a Vlasov equation which gives the number of particles in the phases space (given a distribution function to suppose). This equation ignores collisions between different species. A better approach would be the Boltzmann equation which considers collisions. However, if you consider only D-D collisions, you can stay with the Vlasov equation.
I can send you copy of the pages of my book (in French), if you want (in direct, via my email address). However, finding an analytical solution for the Fusor will be extremely complex.
