Electric feild as a ac source and magnetic feild strength

For the design and construction details of ion guns, necessary for more advanced designs and lower vacuums.

Electric feild as a ac source and magnetic feild strength

Post by Andrew Haynes »

Hi all, Im build a high voltage 50-100khz driver and been thinking what would the strength of the magnetic feild part be, mainly with a narrow and narrow electron beem, in rought vaccum and in air.
Found a document not on hand that a arc discharge is about the same resisanve as copper and would like to base it on that.
Would enought vaccum, just enought for mean path that more abilty for current could be used instead lower vaccum and mor kintec energy.
Cheers

We must be careful in experimenting like this one. Applying high voltage is not a joke and should be thoroughly look for.

The creation of a magnetic field has little to do with voltage and all to do with current. The field created is a matter of amp-turns. An arc is a signle turn, effectively. The current in an ion beam in vacuo and in an arc in air, will give you your field strength figure and it will be near zero until you get amps in the beam or arc. Not an easy thing to do.

Im assuming you need a one million volt charge to produce one tesla, but im wondering if sense electric field and magnetic field are negitive correlated that opens a area of research, sorry wrong words, definitional.
I was thinkong of a transfomer with the electric field part rather than magnetic.
I havnt got a accurate picture or answer, so was asking about general stuff, to open more doors, these is just a bootle neck
