Completion of ITER's 493 anti-seismic pads.

FYI; The tokamak 'pit' has been completed this month with the 493rd anti-seismic pad that will support ITER's toroid.

Thought I'd pin up a strip of pictures of the job so far. I think it gives a good impression of the size the thing is going to be.

Nice to see NZ technology being used

Those are Robinson Seismic base isolators developed about 20 years ago 200m from where I work

They consist of Rubber / Lead the Lead being used to diddipate the energy by melting inside its rubber containment

As always in the fusion world, bigger and better dreams require truly bigger and better stuff with money to match.

When done will we get honest, digestable reports of results or the usual public fluff? I am so weary of the latter.

Yes, it's big, but so are some of my farts.

Fusion is the energy of the future....and it always will be
The more complex the idea put forward by the poor amateur, the more likely it will never see embodiment

And I suspect many of those farts produce more energy than most tokamaks.. (Sorry, I Just HAD to...)

Looks like it's already leaking plasma. Running all over in the pics.
