Interesting, the MARBLE device is also on the list.

Looks like beamfusion.org is the continuation of fpgeneration.

Interesting - the cylindrical device with a cusped field was an idea I wanted to try, for the same reasons that the Tokyo physicists cited. A more extreme example with a longer aspect ratio and lower pressure might emulate Frank's "Pillar of Fire" approach.
