2025 Bubble Detector Mass Buy

Some bad news. Some of you may have seen that I was trying to find a partner to go in with me on a couple of BTI bubble detectors. Unfortunately, BTI reneged on their original agreement to sell them to me (right after finding a willing partner). They appear to no longer be willing to sell directly to US people and want us to now go through their US distributor.

The minimum purchase from their US distributor is 5 units!

So I am starting this thread to find 4 people who would like to purchase a bubble detector through BTI's supplier. Apparently this is the only way we can now secure them in the US.

The quote is $1650 for 5 units with a 4-6 week lead time. That works out to $330 per a unit including everything except shipping from me to you. If you have a US address and are interested let me know. The way this would work would be (1) find 5 people or enough people to buy 5 units, (2) I order the 5 units, (3) I sell and ship the units to the interested individuals to recoup the costs. The additional fees would be shipping to you and if you want a guaranteed eBay sale, the sales fees/tax.

Given the large cost liability for me, I'd need some sort of surety that you are 100% serious before buying. I don't want to ask for a deposit, so maybe a statement with your license saying you want it via email...maybe we can do an email sale and wait on the payment until they come in (I'd have to check). If you don't wind up buying it these become useless very quickly, so you need to be sure and ready. We'd figure something out the important part is finding people who want them.

If you are interested please reply to this thread. It can't stay open forever, so I may only keep this up a 2-3 weeks because I don't want to hold my project up forever.

In light of this supplier issue, the forum may want to consider alternative methods for neutron proof. My fallback is to do silver neutron activation. Although small furors won't do it, if you do - do it there is no question you made neutrons. If I remember the rules, it isn't good enough for the club and you need bubbles, but it is good enough for me...at least as a fall back.

A bubble dosimeter is on my to-buy-list. I'd love to jump in on this group buy, but unfortunately I don't foresee my system being completed before the dosimeter would expire. I've been stuck working mandatory overtime for the past 6 months and haven't had the mental energy left to continue work on my fusor.

Sorry that this post doesn't immediately contribute to the listing, but should you fail to find enough people, I will be willing to join in hopefully later this year.
