It was my first time at HEAS this year and it was well worth the trip! I'm glad I was able to meet many of the people I've so long conversed with on this forum.

Nice pics! Does that Staticmaster date tag say OCT 2023? Some might enjoy estimating the year when its very last atom of Po-210 will decay. See example here, from a couple months before my own first trip to HEAS. viewtopic.php?p=68240#p68240
The discolored paper is a nice touch. With a sheet of alpha-viewing fluorescent film, I'm sure the glow would be visible in the dark without waiting for eye adaptation. viewtopic.php?p=73378#p73378

All,

It was another nice HEAS gathering this year! We had 51 attendees. I was kept so busy with requests, sales of my stuff and keeping the munchies replaced and sodas loaded into the ice chests that I did not take one single photo at the event. Try ramrodding one of these events and see how much spare time you have during said event.

I am begging all who took images that might be added to this thread to please share them with all on the forums who could not attend by posting some of them as replies in this thread.

I would especially like to thank all the pre-arranged early arrivals who helped this old guy get ready for the event.
Kim Goins and Tony De Angelis - Arrived Wednesday
Joe Ballantyne - Arrived Thursday

Fusor V was run 4 times during the event and did not hit the megamark, but did break the 900,000 n/s TEIR barrier each time It was run.

Thanks Richard for hosting another great event. Having dinner all together in a separate room at Kitchen 33 on Saturday evening was especially nice.

Here are a few shots I took.

Really appreciate the pictures. Could someone summarizes the talk about the Gonzo mode, maybe?

Basically what Bob said was that he's managed to get the system restored, but has not really had enough time to get it running. Too many old broadcast transmitter/antennae seem to need the services of one of the few remaining engineers in the country who know how they work.

Just to clarify Paul's post a bit. Bob HAS gotten Doug's fusor running - quite well in fact, but he has not been able to replicate gonzo mode, possibly because of alterations that Doug made to the fusor setup, post gonzo moment, and before Bob got the fusor.

Basically, the configuration that Doug had the fusor in, when he claimed gonzo mode, has not been able to be replicated, and won't ever be, simply because Doug made permanent alterations to some of the coils.

But Doug's fusor is in running condition at Bob's lab.

Will we ever know if gonzo mode was real? Or what gonzo mode actually was?

IMO there is a 99.999999% probability we will NOT know.

Gonzo mode has already been discussed ad nauseum on this site, so I for one hope this thread does not turn into another discussion of it. This thread is for posting pictures of HEAS 2024.

Go read the old threads if you want to.

Most folks are rightly quite skeptical.

Joe.

Dave,

Thanks!!!! One of the most complete and ideal posting of images. It really captures the spirit of the entire event. Great work and thanks again.
