Battery Grid Support is Growing Fast

This commentator is excellent on common technology questions in a host of fields. Does deep dive research and offers fairly unbiases views that cover the issues without glossing over problems/questions.

This one on current battery use to strengthen the US grid and the solar/battery success in California, as well as Texas, is interesting. That the US is both pushing this aspect of technology hard and growing rapidly is a testament to this type of effort. This review covers Li-Ion battery systems that are currently being used (at huge MW levels of storage and adding many GW's to the grid). This person has done reviews on some of the advanced batteries in the past and those are worth seeing, as well.

Bottom-line is that even Lithium based battery systems can make grid operators a ton of money - not eco-friendly all the time but filling a critical need like this makes the grind more robust and that helps everyone.
