For a brief period today, No one could post to fusor.net. That problem is now solved.
I just deleted a message about some Russian-Chinese oil deal no reference to fusion.
I also just delete a message that was entirely in Russian language. Cyrillic
The two messages were a first post by unknown entities.
Material like this will be deleted in future.

As Richard has stated, we have a change from our host. It was triggering a spam reject for all of us on the site. The spam settings have been reduced and we are trying to figure out why only our site is having the problem. I have another phpbb site that is hosted elsewhere and has no such issue.

And I am noticing still more junk posts than those I mentioned in Frank's "Test" post/thread.
A work in progress, indeed.
And, apparently, a bit more to do.
Like starting now when I (manually) delete still more junk.

We had an uptick in these type of posts for the last couple of weeks. I can't help but think that our registration password was picked from one of the posts on here. It was up for a few hours and that was probably enough.
I just changed it again so let's hope this holds. There were a quite a few new registrants and I deleted most. Let's hope I got rid of all of the bots and not any legitimate new members.

Nice to know that I have help in these issues at the core level here. I appreciate the oversight and the deletion of users posting crap. I can only delete a post, but not the user. (to my knowledge).

I think the bug was fixed and the hole plugged. A quiet day in the fusor neighborhood.
There is a post spam limit of five posts. Not sure why a few of those bots got around that limit.
No deletion of members Richard. Don't want you to get mad at me and delete me so I need some insurance. lol. It is only about limiting the number of people with the master nuke button on the site. Right now, it is only Paul and me.
If the need arises Richard, we can bump you up to whatever capacity you need. Really appreciate the work you do on this site.

Re: Some unusual stuff deleted
No thanks, I'll just keep my bad post deletion rights, and ability to edit posts at anytime. I don't want to be able to delete a member. That's too much responsibility for me. I already have a reputation as the forum curmudgeon and naysayer. I don't need to extend it to the guy who erases members.
I highly value my ability to edit my old posts. With almost 15,000 posts, and mainly the FAQs, I often roam around among my many FAQs to make corrections based on new info and correct the myriad of misspelling and punctuation errors. I type far to fast and am a terrible first pass proof reader of my own work. Somehow after a few years, after everyone figures me for a guy who flunked English and composition, I will find one of my many faux pas and correct it.
