I just want to confirm this will work before I buy the parts (listed in the order they would be):

Tyler,

Your gas regulator looks like the right kind, but the metering valve looks a bit rough.

Check out the cost of a new Swagelock needle valve.

You will most likely need some 1/8" s/s tubing and Swagelock fittings from them anyway.

I can't seem to find any specs on what the output of the regulator is. I'm assuming it's just a male NPT by standards? Do you know?

Tyler,

Looks as if there might be a 1/4" NPT under that red cap, but don't count on it.

I have added a post which I hope may contribute postively to your approach.

Hi Tyler,

Are you really going to get a cylinder with the CGA 350 fitting on it? Because that would be a very large, expensive cylinder of D2 gas! Lecture bottles have the CGA 170 fitting. By the way, when shopping for regulators don't be too concerned about the fittings--you can buy the CGA or NPT fittings separately, probably locally at a welding shop, and put them on the regulator body as needed.

I have been using a regulator bought new from Premier Industries:

The 2500 series single-stage regulator only costs about $90 new, with the SS diaphragm. It's a smaller regulator more suitable for LB cylinders.
