Hello, I am currently interested in building a fusor. I am new at this so I have many questions. First, I was just wondering what kind of material I would use in the construction of my wire grid?
Thanks,

Material used in wire grid
Re: Material used in wire grid
Stainless steel wire is a commonly used material, and good for a person starting out, as it is cheap and relatively easy to work with. Other metals, such as tantalium and tungsten, are much more expensive and harder to work with; however, these grids will last considerably longer than stainless steel ones. Whereas steel grids can only last for about 20 minutes at fusion temperatures, tungsten can run white hot without being ruined. For more advanced work, tungsten would definitely be the recommended material, since just about the only thing that can ruin ir is large amounts of ion bombardment.
