In reference to Implosion problems, Just remember that high vacuum is only about 14.7 psi relative to sea level., I find it funny when safety is replaced with a glass jar not rated for vacuum.
In your system Colin you say you are using a stainless 2mm chamber.. that should suit you fine, the only problem you might run into is tig welding the vacuum fittings. you might burn through the steel depending on the skill of the welder. and this could lead to a minor leak. nothing that a little elbo greese cant fix. Good luck with construction.
