Cubical FusorBoT

Post by Mark Rowley »

After getting some encouraging results with the deuterated target (viewtopic.php?t=14055), a temporary restructuring of the BoT2021 project is slowly underway.

The arrangement is going to be very similar to Jon Rosenthiel’s cube fusor outlined here: viewtopic.php?t=12954

The main difference will be the utilization of deuterated target material embedded within water cooled aluminum endcaps.

Shown below is a comparison of the water cooled cylindrical fusor with the cube chamber. Details on the cylinder fusor can be found here: viewtopic.php?t=13503

In the next photo, one of the two opposing endcaps on the cube has been opened. Both of these endcaps will be replaced with specially machined water cooled versions which can host a low profile embedded deuterated titanium target on the inner chamber side. Water inlets will be similar if not identical to what’s shown on the cylinder fusor.

Just as Joe, Jon, and Jim have done, I’ll be utilizing a cylindrical grid which will provide the axial deuteron beam needed for accurate targeting. In the above link a picture of Jon’s endcaps can be seen which clearly highlights the centralized impact marks.

I’ll be updating progress on this thread.

Picked up a decent chunk of 3.5” aluminum stock for the water cooled target assemblies. Looking forward to machining the pieces, hopefully soon!
