Thought I'd add this little factoid; it is the 200th anniversary of the birth of the first person to isolate uranium metal (which he did in 1841).


*Modern society seems to be overly keen to celebrate celebrity. As least, let our community celebrate those who really contributed to our modern world!*

U metal is not a trivial separation, chemically. High purity is very difficult to obtain.
U metal is just not traded in the market at all. All bulk U is sold and traded in the market place as the oxide only.
