Traveling wave reactor - fission

Post by David Rosignoli »

Perhaps I didn't use the right keywords, but I was surprised I did not find any mention of "Traveling wave reactors" or "breed and burn reactors" on the fusor site. You have probably read about this already, but I thought I would post and get some feedback. Here is a New York Times article concerning this fission reactor concept (just a computer model):

This concept originated in the 1950s, but apparently is in vogue again thanks to John Gilleland from TerraPower LLC using their supercomputer computations.

You didn't see anything here on this or on Carlos Rubbia's energy amp accelerator/reactor for burning fission waste because this is a Fusion, experimentalist site, and we don't discuss things that are illegal for us to play with very much at all, though many of us understand the concepts quite well.
Why guess when you can know? Measure!
