I am not sure how I acquired this particular book, but it has a lot of good info for metals in a vacuum. It appears to be focused on building vacuum tubes, but also has some good data for making ion sources. I did a thread search for the author and the title, thinking that it had already been mentioned, but I did not find it. I believe this book is out of print, so it may be difficult to locate.

It IS out of print. I got my copy from Amazon.com... nearly new but still almost a $100 US. A great, useful book.
