22 Engineer Fundamentals Training Manuals CD DOE

Post by 3l »

When I was in Ft Smith , my school library got a donation of books from Ralph P Lauritson.
I was working on their computer at the time.
During a break I took a peek in the box o Books.
It turns out the dude was with the Manhatten Project.
He had every major book on nuclear physics in that box from 1936-1958 .
The librarian let me leave with those books as a service fee.
500 books.
Among them were a scad load of DOE training Manuals.
Concise , no frills , plain language.
I got to keep none of those books after my hospital stay.
Well God has smiled those same books are being offered on Ebay for 7 Bucks for 22 manuals + $3 Shipping.
Best part he is producing them ...plenty for all!
Here's what he is offering:

Classical Physics
Electrical Science,
Volume 1 of 4, 2 of 4, 3 of 4, 4 of 4
Thermodynamics, Heat Transfer, and Fluid Flow,
Volume 1 of 3, 2 of 3, 3 of 3
Instrumentation and Control,
Volume 1 of 2, 2 of 2
Mathematics,
Volume 1 of 2, 2 of 2
Chemistry,
Volume 1 of 2, 2 of 2
Engineering Symbology, Prints, and Drawings,
Volume 1 of 2, 2 of 2
Materials Science,
Volume 1 of 2, 2 of 2
Mechanical Science,
Volume 1 of 2, 2 of 2
Nuclear Physics and Reactor Theory,
Volume 1 of 2, 2 of 2

Here is a small sample of what is in a Manual:

DOE Fundamentals Handbook, Instrumentation and Control, Volume 2 of 2 (168 pages)
The Instrumentation and Control Fundamentals Handbook includes information on temperature, pressure, flow, and level detection systems; position indication systems; process control systems; and radiation detection principles.

Radiation Detection Terminology
Radiation Types
Gas-Filled Detector
Detector Voltage
Proportional Counter
Proportional Counter Circuitry
Ionization Chamber
Compensated Ion Chamber
Electroscope Ionization Chamber
Geiger-Müller Detector
Scintillation Counter
Gamma Spectroscopy
Miscellaneous Detectors
Circuitry And Circuit Elements
Source Range Nuclear Instrumentation
Intermediate Range Nuclear Instrumentation
Power Range Nuclear Instrumentation
Principles Of Control Systems
Control Loop Diagrams
Two Position Control Systems
Proportional Control Systems
Reset (Integral) Control Systems
Proportional Plus Reset Control Systems
Proportional Plus Rate Control Systems
Proportional-Integral-Derivative Control Systems
Controllers
Valve Actuators

Never hurts to have this stuff in compact form.
It is a refernce library without the library.
It's been paid for by the tax payers...copy transmit....go wild with it.

Happy Fusoring!

All the Doe tech standards are available on line for free in PDF format at:

http://tis.eh.doe.gov/techstds/standard/standard.html

I printed out just the nuke instrumentation standards in volume 2 of 2 of Instrumentation and controls. (print only pages 1 to 95)
