If you are looking for some of the classic (and mostly out of print) books mentioned here, bookfinder.com is a vital resource. This site essentially allows you to search the inventories of hundreds of booksellers world-wide. Results are listed in order of relevance and price. Most sellers also give a good description of the book's condition. The site works for both new and used texts.

Actually, if you use Bookfinder, you get Abe books ( if they hapen to have what you're looking for), along with a jillion other book sellers.

I didn't realize that. I very rarely use bookfinder. (Shows, doesn’t it)?

I've always had good success using Abe, so I pretty much keep using them. (Comfort factor I guess). I like their format, it gives me a lot of information about the book, (condition, year published, location, etc.), without having to click around too much.
