My first (crude) demo fusor is complete, still making adjustments to the chamber and hose to achieve a lower pressure.

Well, you got a plasma; your next focus should be building a better chamber and adding some type of vacuum gauge system - an inexpensive (used) TC gauge & reader, for instance. In this manner you can determine what vacuum you are obtaining with your pump and get experience with leaks, out gassing and general vacuum work. Best of luck.
