Information on Beam-on-Target Neutron Source

This forum is for other possible methods for fusion such as Sonolumenescense, Cold Fusion, CANR/LENR or accelerator fusion. It should contain all theory, discussions and even construction and URLs related to "other than fusor, fusion".

Information on Beam-on-Target Neutron Source

Post by inflector »

Apologies if this has already been posted here. I found an interesting reference to a beam-on-target neutron source that contained some interesting ideas which might be usefully applied to advanced fusor design:

In particular, I thought the brief discussion of suppressor voltage was quite interesting.

The suppressor in this case is to help prevent the acceleration of released electrons back into the ion source, which would burn it up (not to mention wasting input power). There's more than one way to skin that cat, the effect is also mentioned in the Phillips book I keep linking to here, though there it is done by the properties of the shapes involved.

I'll let everyone know how it works when the one I'm making now is tested.
Why guess when you can know? Measure!
