I'll admit right up front I'm not sure this is on topic, if not please (re)move it. Thought it was worth bringing up due to the NASA connection to making Neutrons.
In a video on NASA's Technology Gateway they are discussion Low Energy Nuclear Reactions (AKA Cold Fusion). The video clearly discusses generating Neutrons to use to heat your house:

This is more in the theory realm or "other forms of fusion" forum stuff. This is a measurement, hard facts, how-to forum for the most part.
This is not a going technology. The old papers from 2002 are interesting, but nothing has come of it for all that. A lot of this new energy material, fusion pronouncements and the like are all so much a flash in the pan, but with no powder or ball in the bore.

The Navy research was interesting, but there was criticism that the pits in the plastic detector could have been due to chemical reactions (chlorine ions in the electrolyte). Indeed, subsequent research has shown such pits without deuterium. While not absolutely conclusive, it was felt that the findings were probably due to these chemical reactions.
