I don't think this has been posted before, and I'm not sure if this was the best forum for it...
This is a show that aired on Discovery science where scientists revisit Bikini Atoll to see how the nuclear tests have affected the ecosystem and to see how much detectable radiation lingers today.

I had seen this one. It makes the rounds of the cable networks.

The returning researchers basically found zippo radiation on the wrecks and under water. The coral reefs that were decimated are back and flourishing and goin' gang busters. Like it never happened.

The land food stuffs and flora are doing great too, but the coconut milk contians lower levels of fission products. Folks could move back, and some have, but a little more cooling is needed before they can get back to the coconuts, by our standards.

Nature, as usual, takes little note of the workings of man once he has raped the environment and departs for a few decades. In a bit of irony, it will be nature and the laws of physics that will determine when man can come back.
