Any info on the Canberra Acquisition Bus ?

This area is for discussions involving any fusion related radiation metrology issues. Neutrons are the key signature of fusion, but other radiations are of interest to the amateur fusioneer as well.

Any info on the Canberra Acquisition Bus ?

Post by ChrisSmolinski »

Yes, I'm back to playing with my 8076 NIM again. Thanks to some docs
from someone, I'm a lot closer to getting it to work. I had previously
figured out how to control most of the settings, now I have that done, and
am able to get conversion data back from the unit. I'm curious if anyone
has any docs on the format of the data over the CAB. I'm going to connect
a pulser to the input and see if I can figure out the data format that way,
but some actual info would probably speed things up ;-)

8076 modules seem easier to find than 8075s. Once/if I get this working,
I'll release the software I'm writing for it. Very simple interface, runs under
DOS and you just need a parallel port and a simple cable. Next step may
be a simple PIC uC circuit so you can talk to it via USB, and then have
some nicer GUI software.

What vintage is the 8076, Chris? Also, have you talked with Don Orie? He may have a manual, with I/O info.
