Canberra 8075 schematics?
I'm curious if anyone here has copies of the schematics for the Canberra
8075? I am poking around with my recently acquired 8076, and it appears to
be just an 8075 with an extra PCB kludged onto it, which replaces the various
switchs and knobs on the 8075 front panel. I've started to trace out the
circuits, but having the schematic of the 8075 might make it an easier task.
There's lots of 8076's out there, if we can figure out how to interface to this
beast, we might be able to make use of them!

Canberra is pretty good about sending out prints of their older stuff to customers. Give them a call.

Re: Canberra 8075 schematics?
I was able to get schematics for the 8075 and 8076 ADC boards from them
fairly easily. It took a few more emails to get the 8076 remote interface board
schematics from them. The 8076 and 8075 are 99.9% the same, the with
remote interface board taking the place of the various switches and knobs on
the 8075 front panel.
I'm working on connecting it to the PC, I think I can talk to it with some
parallel port kludging.
There's obviously a little state machine in the 8076, with a big PROM
connected to a set of latches. What today we would do with a $1 PIC. Heck,
the entire 8075 remote board would be done with a $5 PIC and maybe a
FPGA.
Once I get it interfaced, I'll post the details along with the software I plan on
writing. Don at OETech says he has a shelf of the 8076's he can't give away
because no one can interface to them. I hope to change that

Hi Chris:
Very nice.
I would be even interested in buying the data from ya.
Is the data stack small enough to post?
Don Orrie sent me the spec sheets from the catalog.
Are they included? If not I'll share.
Happy Fusoring!

Re: Canberra 8075 schematics?
I emailed you the 8076 Remote Interface board schematics the other day,
Larry, let me know if they didn't arrive. I don't have the interfacing specs for
the 8076, but think I have reverse engineered much of it, we'll tell once I fire it
up, hopefully in a week or so. My wife just gave birth to our second son, so
everything else is obviously on the back burner for now

Congratulations! Think he'll eventually catch the fusor fever from you? We all have it .

Hi Chris:
Congratulations on your new son!
I have not gotten the email.
But hotmail is nortoriously swamped with spam.
I have an account on AOL with the same prefix.
Happy Fusoring!

A most useful piece of software by Craig Brown for an interface between a 8075 and a PC to display as a MCA ( only works on DOS ) also the circuit and board - Perhaps Richard might comment?

Re: Canberra 8075 schematics?
Craig Brown and Bill Kolb are my fellow Rad buddies in this area. I have used Craig's circuit and my 8075 in his system for over two years now! I have posted numerous photos of this nice little completed NIM base Gamma Spec system hooked to my PC on several occasions in image Du jour.
It is a great little system and Craig keeps updating and improving the software to make it do a lot of neat stuff. You have to do a little wiring, but it isn't hard if you are an old IC based digit head with soldering skills.
I use my "Craig Brown Special" for rapid identification and differentiation of various materials. I tend to use my Canberra 40 for the tough work as it has the large detector head.

Hi Larry,
I resent to your AOL account, hopefully you got them this time. Otherwise, try
emailing me, and I'll reply to your email with the schematics, perhaps that will
work if there's a typo with your email address from my end.
