The following are really great references for those interested in radiation and the history of radioactive discoveries as well as practical experimental techniques.
1. Experimental Nucleonics, 1952-1963, by Bleuler and Goldsmith
2. Ions, Electrons and Ionizing Radiations, 1934, J.A. Crowther
3. Radiations from Radioactive Substances, 1930, Rutherford, Chadwick and Ellis
The material is like all old material. Simple, direct, fully explained, with experiments, numerous tables lots of drawings and diagrams and circuits with just enough math to handle the topic at the college entry level without forcing the student to wade through needless mathematical tirades showing how brilliant the author is.

Progress may have been a good thing once, but it just went on too long. - Yogi Berra
Fusion is the energy of the future....and it always will be
The more complex the idea put forward by the poor amateur, the more likely it will never see embodiment
