Re: New Solid State Neutron Detector
I'll have to see if the MBE machine here at work will deposit down some lithium-indium-phosphorus-selenium layers.
Cheers.

No real data given, of course......

Re: New Solid State Neutron Detector
Richard,
I just got a chance to read the original paper in Nature. They do provide data that indicates detection of
thermal neutrons from a weak PuBe souce (75 neutrons/sec per cm2). They also showed that the material
was able to discriminate between neutrons and gammas.
The authors do not claim that this is a mature technology, just that it shows some potential.
Cheers.

Re: New Solid State Neutron Detector
Thanks for the update, now it is matter of the waiting game......
Will it ever appear on the market? If and when it does, will it be inexpensive and of a sensitivity that aspiring fusioneers will be able to actually purchase and make any use of it?
As always, a lot of waiting and what ifs.
