Where to buy an x-ray power supply?

Post by bygolly »

I am currently powering my fusor with a 30000V 10mA power supply. I want to upgrade to something with much more current. From what I have read, the best power supply is from an x-ray machine. Where can I find one of these power supplies? There haven't been any on ebay in the past month.

That one will do it:

Ebay - 200KV 400KVA High Voltage tesla Power Supply Tank - Item number: 270313580393

But seriously, there's plenty of stuff under "high voltage power supplies".
What you'll need is higher voltage rather than current.

Check out eBay # 250360438631

60 kV, 100 mA ought to do it for any fusor application. Appears to have floating outputs. A bit pricey at $750 plus shipping, but includes a control console. You'd have to check if it is single phase or three phase input, and see what the shipping would be from Milton-Freewater, OR.

No financial interest in said item.

I just noticed this one surfing ebay earlier today:

http://cgi.ebay.com/Used-125KV-High-X-r ... 7C294%3A50

Looks like a decent deal and I doubt it'll get overly expensive. I might put a bid in at some point, looks like there are 2 avaliable too.

zhgreader,
That's an American measuring tape, so it's 11 inches, and closer to 30cm.

ah,
thank you very much, otherwise I will make a mistake.
They wind two windings, it might be a push and pull structure for rectifier.
