Hey guys,
I'm starting to gather parts for my linear accelerator project (1st picture below) and I really need a long glass tube connected to a 2.75 conflat half nipples on each side for my accelerator tube. I'm really reluctant to go to a glass blowing shop because they aren't accustomed to working with glass that is under vacuum. If the glass is too thin, it might shattered under vacuum and destroy my turbo pump, etc. So, I was wondering if there's any fusioneer who :
1. is willing to help
2. can join two pieces of this and ,possibly, extend the glass tube to preferable length : http://accuglassproducts.com/images/P/211072_001.jpg
3. preferably, live in the US. (for shipping cost)
I'll pay of the fees and shipping of course. Please PM me.
Thanks!

Re: Glass blowing for vacuum work
Hi Jack
You doesn´t say how long is the glass tubing needed.
Look at http://www.larsonelectronicglass.com/
They sell standard pieces and also make special parts, providing you send a sketch.
Keep in mind that distance is a great limitation and the time involved also will play against your plans.
The best combination that I apply for my glass-to-metal pieces is acquiring a standard one from this or other similar glassblower shops and modify it locally.
Good luck and have a good New Year,
Roberto

Hey Roberto,
Thank you for giving me the links to that website! I didn't know there's a company that specialize in such fields. The calculation haven't been made so the length haven't been specified. However, I am 80% certain that I will be needing this type of adapter for the project. I will try to contact them for a quote on Monday.
Thanks!

Hi Jack
You are welcome!
Have a look to other alternative suppliers:
http://www.frederickscom.com/index.tpl
http://www.tmsvacuumcomponents.co.uk/gl ... -seals.php (UK)
http://asgs-glass.org/mo/index.php/find-a-glassblower
This last one is an US association some of whose members are international and can point you to some expert, closer to you.
