Re: Simple turbo pump controller

Every fusor and fusion system seems to need a vacuum. This area is for detailed discussion of vacuum systems, materials, gauging, etc. related to fusor or fusion research.

Hi,
The vendor on EBAY is out of stock on the TPH-055 turbo pumps it seems. He is now selling the LEYBOLD TURBOVAC 50 85401. Is the homebrew controller described here capable of driving this pump as well (or are modifications to it needed?) The Ebay URL for this new pump is:

http://cgi.ebay.com/LEYBOLD-TURBOVAC-50 ... 3cb3b7ad0f

Thanks in advance!

Glen you oviously haven't read through all of the posts on the simple turbo controller

I have put up a design to drive the leybolds on another forum it is refernced in the simple controller post.
the leybolds are three phase drive not two phase like the the other pumps.
My controller is suitable for driving the TMP50, TMP150, TMP300 series pumps all that changes is the transformer specification lower volts but more amps for the bigger turbos

Hi Glenn,

There is new batch of TPH-055 on eBay - Item number: 370474651538.

The homebrew controller will not work with LEYBOLD TURBOVAC 50 85401.
