Re: Nuclear Radiation Physics - a special value

<t>Doug, Richard;<br/> Thank you both for your reading/library addition suggestions. Turns out I have Halliday, "Introduction to Nuclear Physics" which I purchased new in a Tuttle Bookstore on Okinawa for the sum of $3.95 a number of years ago (1968-1970 era). Just received the "Nuclear Radiation Ph...

Re: Big Solar Flares This Week Get Your Counters Ready!

<t>As always I am usually presenting some well known facts. Just a reminder that<br/> Spaceweather.com has detailed solar data available including nice up to the minute solar wind flux data. Does not include neutron counts but otherwise gives good account of current solar activity. There is a new so...

Re: Neutron Detection material question

<t>According to a recently received flier from ELJEN Technologies they manufacture several Gd loaded fast neutron liquid scintillators. I contacted them and they were interested in the support of small science efforts particularly student related. Just a disclaimer though, I have not done business w...

Re: Power supply from this weekend hamfest.

<t>Richard;<br/> I know this is an old thread about an older power supply however I have just come across one at a local surplus house in apparently good (read clean) condition. The asking price is high and I have not been able to test it as the plug has been cut off the power cord. Top cover is mis...

Re: Demo Fusor close to first light

<r>Hi All;<br/> I have not quite kept up with my development schedule due to few extra fusor minutes. I have been continuously pumping my chamber now fitted with both a TC gauge and a 15 torr Baratron capacitative manometer. I have done an Excel spreadsheet to sort out my observations and see how th...

Victoreen 492 Rad monitor

<t>Hi all;<br/> just aquired a Victoreen 492 with a 0-1 mR/hr scale. Has no exterior connector for probe so I am assuming that the small tube appears to be cardboard tube with sealed in wires is the GM tube. Is a modern G10 PC board with silicone transistors very clean. Exterior a little worn. Seria...

Re: one the way to a microtron, testing of the magnet system

<t>Rapp;<br/> did you build an algorithm to scan the hall device over the magnet or did you use a manual method reading the A to D's and then step the XY position with the D to A output. Just wondering as it is an elegant method either way. Best wishes as I avidly watch for your next installment! La...

Re: Baratron Capacitative Manometer question.

Steve;
Thanks again! Just plugged in the second 15 Torr Baratron after quick cleanup of the KF16 gasket area. All of them have worked though I will need to zero all of them once I get the diffusion pump online. Best wishes with your mass-spec project. More later, Larry Upjohn.

Re: Baratron Capacitative Manometer question.

<t>Thanks Steve! I am now testing the 10 Torr unit and scored 100% functionality on the two tested so far. The ambient temperature in my garage lab is now getting up to 100F plus or minus daily so I am learning that the TC gauge definitely reflect ambient temp variations but the Baratron is much mor...

Re: Baratron Capacitative Manometer question.

<t>Steve;<br/> the 10 Torr unit has +-12Volt supplies and 0-4 Volt range: Type is <br/> 122AA-00010DB-SPO71-90(serial # 10647-1B). The two 15 Torr units again have +-12Volt supplies and range is 0-6 Volts. Type number on these two units are122A-11095----S (Serial number on the one not hooked up righ...
