Re: Plasma fusor

That's a good start, Liam. Congratulations!

What are you planning to do next?

Re: Fusor Computer Modeling

It seems to me that to be meaningful, all these modeling discussions ought to start with: What do I want to know, and how accurate or precise is good enough? Instead, we invariably get into talking about tools. Sometimes very specific ones. My point remains that you can't select (or build) the right...

Re: Fusor Computer Modeling

SIMION works if your doing beam simulations for sure. Again, it depends entirely on the problem. It's useful for SOME beam transport simulations (often those without significant space charge effects or collisions or transient fields). A hammer is useful for some repair tasks, but not for repairing ...

Re: Fusor Computer Modeling

The keys to a successful (physically meaningful) model or simulation are, first of all, having a specific problem that is within the domain of validity of the model, and second, furnishing a relevantly-accurate representation of the system being studied. Often, our discussions about modeling don't b...

Re: Fusion review board

The "Neutron Club" has historically been Richard's own creation to administer himself, which he's done transparently and equitably. I recall only one situation where I fundamentally disagreed with his decision to admit someone to the Club, but that was early in its existence when its definition was ...

Re: New fusor for neutron production

My definition of a "reasonable" diffusion pump and a "reasonable" price is something with a rated speed of 20-100 liters per second, and $100-200 on the surplus market. Such pumps are at the smallest end of the commercial lineup, and entirely sufficient for fusor use. They show up on eBay all the ti...

In case you missed it, the site rules (which you had to read to apply for posting privileges) are taken seriously. You need to introduce yourself and your project ambitions in the forum for that purpose before authoring any other posts . Asking "Will this work?" is just asking to be spoon-fed with t...

Re: Disqualified from Intenational science fair

This thread is wandering distant from the original topic, which was a particular news item about one of our members and his ISEF experience. General perorations on the old warhorse of fusion power plants (which are not the focus of fusor.net anyway) should be put in a new thread in the appropriate f...
