Re: The "Waterstar Summit" - January, 2020

No, Richard, the image you just posted is NOT the same as the "grid" structure in the image I posted from this past weekend. That is something else entirely, but I am not sure what. But I have seen that grid thing in your photo upload. It's not much larger than a thumbnail, where the one in my photo...

Re: A biography based forum for select neutron club members

I like this idea, Frank. There are several members still around who would be suitable candidates for what you propose, starting of course with Richard Hull and yourself and Jon Rosenstiel. Some others have come and gone. I like the idea because it focuses on the most successful efforts, and (hopeful...

Re: Is It A Farnsworth... or a Hirsch (redux)

So let me see if I've got this straight: Farnsworth started the whole thing, but he didn't know what he was doing, so they brought Hirsch in, and he's the only one who could produce any results (neutron counts). Despite those results, Hirsch couldn't get any funding out of the AEC, so instead he wen...

The "Waterstar Summit" - January, 2020

IMG_0832.jpeg I'm not sure if I should call this "the <first> Waterstar Summit – or the second. If this was the 'second,' then that would be because the 'first' was a gathering at the Farnsworth home in Fort Wayne, Indiana in the spring of 2001. Present for that assembly were myself, Kent Farnswort...

Re: Is It A Farnsworth... or a Hirsch (redux)

First, copious thanks to Ed Meserve for making the arduous journey over the river and through the snow to Rigby Idaho, and for sharing those outstanding, detailed images of what we (well, <I> have been referring to as "the Rigby cathode." It's a cathode, it's in Rigby, so... Also, I see that Ed post...

Re: No Intranets and no songs??

Frank and I are in California right now rummaging through the Farnsworth family archives that have been shuttled out here over the past couple of years. Our time here is very limited and this is NOT what we want to focus on during the hours we have left here today. The old "songs.com" and "Intranets...

Re: Is It A Farnsworth... or a Hirsch (redux)

Just checking in after seeing Richard's post to echo Frank's sentiments: Thank you Richard for posting this again. I am going to save the post to my local drive and hope you will do the same. Also, Maciek Szymanski, thank you for posting those images of the cathode from the UofU archives, they're ra...

Is It A Farnsworth... or a Hirsch (redux)

This is gonna look familiar. [As regular users of this site are aware, we had a bit of hiccup back in mid-December when we tried to upgrade our server capacity. Long story short, there was a SNAFU over the IP address; for a few days there were two versions of the site, and new posts were going onto ...
