Re: Xray transformer mods

Hello, This reply came a lot later than it should have but I finished the transformer a while ago now. I used a schematic for dual polarity power supplies to better understand what was going on. Dual polarity.png Since it consists of two independent transformers and has two rectifiers as well, the s...

Re: Comet NEOWISE

I went out with the family yesterday far from city lights. I don't have a DSLR so I was limited to a crappy Samsung, but I manged to get the exposure time just right. Here are some low quality photos: feb7b8cc-3595-4ebe-8b93-8bb75e5c1b5f.JPG 9bd06ef6-5d97-4def-8f62-6af8b1715747.JPG This was using a ...

Re: Xray transformer mods

Hi, I would use the 220AC plugs in my house but I don't have a proper variac so I'm limited to 120AC until I get a step up transformer. I wanted to use only one side initially but because the turn ratio for one side is 1:180, I can only get about 40kv from one side (assuming I'm are using 220AC). Th...

Re: Xray transformer mods

Sorry for the late response, Maybe I didn't explain how this transformer works very well. It's rather weird because it has two primaries, two secondaries and two full bridge rectifiers all with the same core. Both primaries and secondaries have the same amount of turns. It also has two filament coil...

Xray transformer mods

Hi all, I got my hands on an xray transformer about a year ago now and I'm confident that it is fusor friendly but I've run into some trouble trying to figure out how to rewire this transformer. Here is a photo of the specs: 20181229_212306.jpeg The transformer is rated for 300ma at 125kvp (tube vol...

Re: Old oil for the turbo

Hi Artem,

I got it for about CAD $180 which is a lot more than yours. As in your case, I don't need it all so I'm trying to get it off my hands. You could also try asking your local branch if it is ok to use that old oil if you don't want to spend much money.

Re: Old oil for the turbo

Hi, I recently ordered 250cc of this oil directly from the company. My understanding is the oil actually expires after a couple years, but that may just be a marketing thing. I would be willing to sell and ship you some as soon as my shipment arrives. Please PM or email me if you're interested. Amee...

Re: Pumping Setup - A Few Questions

Hello, I believe that most turbo pumps can operate sideways or upside down. The design of your chamber may make that a little harder to pull off but it shouldn't be too bad. Do you mind showing us the pump you are using? If you can find the manual it should mention what direction the pump can be mou...

Re: Cleaning/Repairing Edwards E2M5

Hello, Just updating everyone who might read this thread. I finally just traded the two pumps for an Alcatel 2002. It works perfectly fine, reaches 5 microns on the gauge and has very minimal noise. I got those two pump together for $350 cad so I basically paid $350 for the Alcatel. On the high side...

I just read it too and it seems to say the same thing. But the begs to ask the question of what this little screw is for:
