Re: Anode layer ion source. Operation pictures

300C-350C is the typical upper limit for SmCo magnets.

If you were arcing a NST into the source it would either melt the anode ring or overheat the magnet.

Re: Anode layer ion source. Operation pictures

The pasternack BNC connectors are hermetically sealed and will hold a vacuum, though not UHV since they use an elastomer o-ring to seal to the base plate; not a real issue in the vacuum ranges that fusors/shuttering/deposition runs at though. If rectified to DC then yes an NST would work, though mak...

Re: Non-Corrosive and/or Dielectric Liquid Cooling?

Teflon and nylon tube are both good, as are viton o-rings. You can get teflon and nylon ferules and fittings from swagelok.

Re: Non-Corrosive and/or Dielectric Liquid Cooling?

Here is the documentation on the fluorinert cooling of my grid: http://www.rtftechnologies.org/physics/fusor-mark3-index.htm Fluorinert does evaporate slowly (much slower than ethanol), so a mostly closed system is recommended. A simple plastic cap or over pressure vent valve on the reservoir will d...

Re: Non-Corrosive and/or Dielectric Liquid Cooling?

Fluorinert is best. It has no health issues at all, unless you burn it (don't). https://www.ebay.com/itm/3M-Fluorinert-FC-77-1L-Quick-delivery/264470677091?hash=item3d93ae4663:g:4wUAAOSwpOVdhGs6 https://www.ebay.com/itm/3M-Fluorinert-Electronic-Liquids-FC-40-500-ml/183830136622?hash=item2acd21472e:g...

Re: First ever Turbo experience

Welcome to the world of turbos, if all goes well you'll never want to go back to a diffusion pump again. If all doesn't go well I encourage you go get another turbo. A turbo pump is a fine addition to a fusor, hopefully it will give you many years of quality vacuum without any oil back streaming of ...

Re: Simple turbo pump controller

The older pfeiffer TC-100 controllers are getting so cheap on ebay that I would not recommend building your own at this point.

Re: web site problem

Checking active topics via the "search.php?search_id=active_topics" link is the way I (and probably others) check for new posts on the forum. Access to this link is now disabled unless you are logged in. Also fusor.net keeps logging me out automatically now after some period of time. Do we have a se...
