I'll have to update this to a more detailed description and bio over the next few weeks or so but here is a start: I was born and grew up in Raleigh, NC I went to Georgia Tech for undergrad and received BS degrees in Physics and Electrical Engineering. I built three fusors in my dorm room, the lates...

Re: Digital X-ray dosimeters on ebay 15keV+ sensitivity

Mine was also locked in satellite mode. I contacted Mirion, they will reset to manual mode for free at the cost of shipping ($8) and can do firmware upgrades for $15ea. RMA form-Blank (1)[21243].pdf the DMC3000 should be manually configurable if it's in manual mode: https://www.laurussystems.com/wp-...

Re: Amptek Digital Pulse Processor

Yes, supplying +5vdc to the pwr_ext pad on the PC 5 will power up the DP5 as well. I believe you can solder across a resistor to allow usb power, though I think the previously posted manual is for an older version of the board. From p22 on the manual (again I believe this manual might be for an olde...

Re: Amptek Digital Pulse Processor

Got 3x pulse processors and 1x of the Si-PIN diode. it pretty much works out of the box, make sure you install the winusb drivers or it won't connect via usb. I got a good XRF spectrum of stainless steel with this unit. I was using one of these photoionizer units as an x-ray source (9.5kev peak): ht...

There are also sellers selling the matching Si-pin diode: https://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Si-PIN-Detector-Element-with-PA230-Preamplifier-25mm-2-1mil-Be-Window/123346334252?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649 https://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Amptek-Si-PIN-Detector-w-PA230-PreAmp-25mm...

Digital X-ray dosimeters on ebay 15keV+ sensitivity

There are a few Mirion DMC3000 dosimeters listed for a very good price, these go down to 15keV x-ray energy so they should be well matched for fusor use. This is a rare find at this price since most digital dosimeters are designed for gamma only with a 50keV minimum sensitive energy range and not mu...

Re: Amptek Digital Pulse Processor

I bought 2 of the used ones, the seller did not respond to a $250ea offer.
From the Amptek site, it appears the power supply for the pin diode is on the PC5 board which is independent from the DP5 and can be removed entirely (or probably just disconnected).

Re: I want to help fix fusor.net!! (join up listing)

I, Andrew Seltzman, want my editing privileges restored.

If we overwrite a broken attachment with a similar/newer/clearer file, will this confuse a later possibly automated fix?
