Re: Missing photos

I did some more playing around (What I can in "ordinary user" space) and found that one can view the full original photos now! It only seems that the thumbnail links are broken, but one can use this hack to see the images. To view: Right Click on the link with the "broken picture" icon and choose "o...

The three Laws of Thermodynamics:

You can't win.

You can't break even.

You can't even quit the game.

Re: Missing photos

What Operating system was on the old and new locations? Hopefully it was the same version of Linux on both. A couple of things I can think of: Case Sensitivity. Things on Linux are case sensitive. Perhaps while copying something, somehow the original case was not preserved. Lost file extensions or c...

Re: Joe Gayo's lab tour

Having lots of Volts really makes the difference. I believe that the former record holder was operating at around 80 KV

Re: FUSOR.NET v4 is now LIVE!

I found perhaps the first bug! But it has to do with the way cookies are set. When I log in from the usual machine that use for the fusor.net forum, it accepts my login, but I cannot see new messages, and I cannot post a reply, it thinks I am not logged in. The upper right still shows "Register" and...

Re: Fusion Success with Precipitator Power Supply

Just don't like having to deal with oil. My existing supply with the 8 stage CW multiplier works fine up to 50KV in air, but it will only do 5 mA at that voltage. Now I know that people are going to ask why I just don't stick with that supply or improve the drive to it. Reason is I'm working on a ne...

Re: Fusion Success with Precipitator Power Supply

As I said, if you derate the supply to 40 KV it should work fine as it stands. The small cross fusors seem to do quite well at 30 KV. I am going for higher Q in an 8 inch cylinder, and I want to get to 50 KV at 10 mA. The grid design I'm using now can handle 500 watts input. I dismantled my supply t...

Re: Fusion Success with Precipitator Power Supply

Somehow I killed the driver circuit after extending the voltage control. It might have been because I had an open circuit. In any case, I was planning to trash the factory drivers and build my own, but I decided to research the issue of driving these flybacks in parallel and connecting the outputs i...

Re: Fusion Success with Precipitator Power Supply

I asked my seller about the purpose of the 2 dip switches and the four pin header. He did not respond to my question about the header. As far as the switches all he said was "You can just ignore them for normal operation", so I left them as shown in the photo. I did get a .docx instruction sheet fro...

Re: Fusion Success with Precipitator Power Supply

Yes, it annoys me that they ground off the part number of the ICs. I was using the fusor operating with air as my load. I can pretty well control the flow rate with the mass flow controller and the pressure with the exhaust valve controller. I'm not sure what arced to what. Next thing I want to do i...
