I call it a "plasma backdraft restrictor - design ENGEL" ;-)

And it works.
Meaning, that Plasma can't go through such small diameters.

Which additional DAQ did you order? An isolated one? I thought about taking such a device.

Re: FICS II Planning and construction

wow - the LabView user Interface looks veeeery nice! And I'm waiting for your first DAQ values and if there are any groundloop issues. If I understand your concept right, you put the MFC with it's electronics on high potential. Why did you not try to isolate the gas pipe to the chamber? This would m...

Re: my most inspiring books ...

Thanks to Philipp, I can point you to an excellent video about the basics of fusion, confinement theory, plasma physics and finally about the Wendelstein 7X experiment itself. It can be used to get a short and very professional overview about the current status in fusion. https://cds.cern.ch/record/...

Another nice source of scientific news: CERNCOURIER

There seems to be a free subscription available (printed version of the magazin!) for member states. So maybe you can get one at: cern.courier@cern.ch

That's the brand new one:

Re: tabletop neutron generator

I'm using a similar device to prevent the plasma from igniting through from the chamber back to the MFC. It's just a small piece of tiny steel pipe, connected to a KF seal ring. I think I will call it "plasma backdraft restrictor - design ENGEL" ;-) Sounds nice- does it? I think Steven Sesselmann co...

Re: tabletop neutron generator

The plastic hose and the small design does solve a lot of Isolation issues - congratulation!
I can't see the RF generator for the ion-source - or am I missing something?
How did you solve the isolation problem between the RF coil and the next KF fitting?
Great work!

Re: Tubbs Beam-on-Target Effort [Neuts/Pics/Tips]

Robert, here you see the inside of the tuner für impedance matching the RF source . Do you mean you removed the wire from the cap to the switch and connected the coil directly to the cap? Which cap-connection did you use? Could you send a picture? Did you do any kind of resonance calculation to desi...

Re: one more spectrometer, homemade quadrupol

An really incredible solution! Congratulations!
I always thought about buying one from Pfeiffer - but 15.000€ for finding out you the quality of my vacuum?
How long did it take to machine the parts for you?
