Re: ECRF injector sucessful RF ionization

Hi Andrew! I know how to calculate the Ion Cyclotron-Frequency. But how did you choose the diameter and the number of windings of the RF-coil? Or did you just take the available space according to the magnetic field and distance to magnet to achieve the right B-field? I talked to several people. Som...

Re: Tri-Alpha Energy just launched its website

A few days ago I attended a lecture of a former Nobel Prize winner – Carlo Rubbia. He was also a former director at CERN and a famous particle physicist. His story was about the next energy source of mankind. To make it short he wants us to use methane-clathrates by separating CH4 to Carbon and Hydr...

I think I will give them a chance and try the components. I'll keep you informed. But it will take some time ..

Re: Anode layer ion source. Operation pictures

Did you allready try to focus the beam? Maybe with a Wehnelt cylinder or an einzellens?
Or is this even planned?
Higher luminosity would be nice - I think.

2nd Austrian Fusor in progress ...

Hi fusioneers! My new roughing pump (Edwards RV8) finally motivated me to change from my old glass based chamber (see my avatar) to the new steel chamber with the 75kV HV feedthrough. The old Pfeiffer DUO-08B was too loud to operate in my small office room. I decided to use mostly ISO-K instead of C...

Gronud should always have one common Point. And from there you go to every Thing you want to ground - in the shape of a star.
There are some FAQs regarding these issues ...

Re: Completion of Demo Fusor

yes, the outside of the fusor has to be grounded as well as he pump.
additionally you can put a metall mesh between the fusor and the tube -and also ground it. this should also prevent Plasma from igniting between the fusor and the pump.

Re: FICS II Planning and construction

I talked to people working with remote Controlling in several areas: The told me to use Serial Interfaces between the devices. People at the University of Vienna are using the following device as a fiber USB Interface (see Picture). Did you think about choosing different gases to check plasma behavi...
