Archived - USM Fusion Group: First Light

Last night we achieved first light on our demo fusor. We don't have a capacitor inline on our power supply, so it was devilishly tricky to get pictures with it blinking. We are nailing down a couple more details before the Engineering Expo next weekend.

Steve,
Neat! How close are you to firing your "Mini-F"?

Bell Jar for Demo Fusor

<r>Hello, all. Our group is beginning to pull together the components for a demo fusor, and I have found two possible bell jar setups we might be able to use.<br/> <br/> One for $70:<br/> <URL url="http://www.thesciencefair.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=1275-4&Category_...

Re: I'm Back

We're mostly engineering students, so we're in Gorham. Things will be quiet until the semester starts up again; we have a meeting tentatively scheduled for Jan. 20. Maybe you could come and talk about things to consider concerning vacuum equipment?

Re: I'm Back

Hi Steve. Welcome to Maine. If you're ever in Southern Maine, look us up! I'm part of a group of students at USM that are beginning to put together a demo fusor, hopefully in time for the Engineering Expo in February. We intend to have a fusion capable unit ready for this time next year.
