Re: Microamp Fuses

Isn't it easier to protect the meters with a zener-like circuit?

What is the max voltage over the meter? A circuit with an opamp, zener and mosfet to limit the voltage over the meter should do the trick.

Re: My Visit w Doug Coulter

Looking at radiation sickness time lines, the symptoms you describe might be somewhere between 0.5 or even 2 Sv. The main mistake in my calculations was the distance and the run-time, I thought the 1 second run made you ill. Correcting it for a 30s run and a distance of 18 inch (that's very close......

Re: My Visit w Doug Coulter

Is it true that for acute rad sickness you need a minimum dose of about 1 Sv? ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acute_radiation_syndrome ) 25E+6 neutrons / cm^2 is about 1 rem or about 0.01 Sv, so to get 1 Sv you need 25E+8 neutrons per cm^2. Pressure control

Have been trying to find a way to control the pressure in a stable way for a while, tried all kind of things, electric valves switching on and off in the fire-vacuum, switching the turbo on-and-off etc. None of these methods gave a stable pressure control. Other methods had the disadvantage of needi...

Re: Electric Field 3D Modeling

I posted a "list of useful software" in the past: http://fusor.net/board/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=9526 It lists Elmer, for the static E field any FEM will do. Maybe it's better to maintain this list outside the forum somewhere, with an os, price and license matrix. I posted it to see if anyone would com...

Re: Breakeven Laser Induced Ultradense Deuterium Fusion Clai

the point of my comment was that the 2.7W of energy might originate from the para to ortho transition of the D2 gas, not from any nuclear reaction.

Re: Breakeven Laser Induced Ultradense Deuterium Fusion Clai

radiation (1064nm) induced metal surface catalysed para- to ortho-deuterium transition of the cooled (adiabatic expanding D2 into to vacuum chamber) D2 gas? just a wild guess, with spin 1 the ortho-deuterium represent a lower energy state than para-deuterium (the opposite of H2 or T2). The experimen...

contact for 2% thoriated tungsten wire (it's not on their shop site, but they do sell it for about $350/kg, I don't know the minimum order, I think it's 1kg) http://www.aliexpress.com/store/511041 By measuring the resistance you can estimate the temperature, so you can find the power you need.
