Re-building MKS mass flow controllers

<t>I've had the good fortune of being given a couple of MKS mass flow controllers by Santa. Unfortunately, they no longer work (according to the scribble on them they have 'no flow')<br/> <br/> Does anyone have any experience of fixing/re-building these units?<br/> <br/> They are analogue units<br/>...

Re: Pumping down my bakelite chamber (wrt general adsorbed gasses in a fusor).

It may be the opposite effect, Chris.

The air may be 'flushing out' smaller molecules, H etc. and then the larger air molecules are more easily pumped out.

I imagine the phenolic etc will be outgassing all the time, whether under vacuum or not.

Re: Varian versus Alcatel (Adixen) controllers.

If you are interested in parting with the Alcatel, Chris, let me know.

(Should I have posted this in trading post?)

Building a controller will be quite a challenge.

Re: A 'multi-purpose' chamber with multiple HV HF feedthroughs.

Am I correct in assuming your vacuum guage is connected to a multimeter, Chris?

While the meters for guages generally have compensators for ambient temperature, it is a very simple solution, and probably accurate enough for now.

<t>Richard, while we don't need UHV for fusion, most of us want to pump our system down as far as we dare before introducing D so that the percentage of D in the chamber is as high as possible.<br/> <br/> I will pump the chamber down, then purge with D before pumping down again, and going for neutro...

I couldn't have stated either point better myself, Chris.

I also tend to 'over engineer' everything.

If the mass spec people don't like it, it nust be backstreaming, Richard......or have I missed something?
