Re: Screen over turbo?

Assuming you are implying you have one with the turbo, leave it on. As well as being protection from particulates, it is a last defence against any plasma discharges that might enter the vacuum stream and find their way to any electronics down-stream.

Why haven't you bought one? They're around $3 off ebay, posted. I've seen them cheaper than that, even.

Re: Is this part of EMC2 research finally coming to light?

You seem to be missing a number. US patent applications consist of a year number followed by 7 digits.

Re: Is this part of EMC2 research finally coming to light?

Yet another 'fluff' report of the same regurgitated material, or non-material if you prefer. Virtually every sentence is a fantasy stretch of the imagination with no substantiating information on any of it. Reflecting the seriousness of the piece, it ends with a comparison with the 'e-cat'. Whether ...

Please delete the argument posts about x ray versus gamma. A total thread drift of no value at all.

Re: Is this part of EMC2 research finally coming to light?

McGuire's thesis looked to me to be riddled with one assumption after another.

Looking at this machine, he appears to have jumped to the conclusion that folks doing mirror-machine fusion for years didn't know what they were doing, so he'll have a go, because that's all I see in these pictures.

Re: Cutting down nipples/ electric field

Probably not, but difficult to tell without seeing a schematic of what you are suggesting. You should try to avoid scenarios where there is a line of sight from the electrode to anything that you don't want 'beamed' with electrons (gauges, etc.).

Re: Teflon Tape and Vacuum grease

I did not see anywhere in the OP that the intention was to subject these fittings to vacuum. Appears to be simply gas fittings. If you are using a fitting for its intended purpose, follow the guidelines for its use. Simple. If you are using a fitting for a contrary amateur purpose, the only real way...

Re: This is not the kind of news we need.

I would anticipate we'll see the restriction for sale of NORM and other ordinary, legal, stuff through ebay now, due to the predictable over-reaction. It is not that stuff can get misused, it is the perception of the risk from a particular perceived threat, and humans are very poor at judging relati...
