Re: Ion source working, 49 bubs / 3 min!

Carl-Great job.

What is the copper tube on the left?
Could I get more information on the magnetron source?
With the cap. manometer at 45 deg. is this a problem?
What is the operating pressure?

Re: Alpha Spectrometry Report

Jon- Nice work.

Did you tune the pressure?
Would other gasses give a different performance?

Re: Update: "Carl's Jr."

Carl,

Nice work. What is a keep-alive ion source? Do you have any drawings?
Where is it in the picture? Will the oil be cooled?

Re: CdTe Detector

John,

So this puts the noise at about 15KV.
Do you think it is in the material, contacts, or the amp.?
By the way, what do you guys use for the source?

Re: First Plasma

Thanks

I am building a better spectrometer. Will fire up next week. Hope for a
better signal to noise.

<t>Thanks- The Ocean optics is easy, but a good SPEX with a PMT will give
scientific measurements. I have a 1.25 meter SPEX which I plan to use
fore future measurements. This resolves 80 mili angstroms.
OE makes a "student spec for $1200.
Your SPEX with a fiber optic is a good ...
