Re: MFC fitting identification help!

Thank you everyone for your help - this ended up working nicely. Used 1/4" copper refrigeration tubing, got Swagelok compression nuts and ferrules. Now have a great mass flow controller working, all for about $100!
Thanks again!

Re: MFC fitting identification help!

Thank you Joe! I bet you can tell I am really lost on this one...

More broad question: what do you think is the cheapest/easiest way to connect that MFC to a KF40 piece?

Re: MFC fitting identification help!

Hi Joe, thank you for the information, I will read through their site/catalog/etc.
I am trying to connect the MFC on the left with the adapter on the right.
Allegedly, the MDC is VCR4 and the adapter is VCR4 to KF40, but it doesn't work, naively.

Re: MFC fitting identification help!

Thanks Joe! You're a lifesaver. Pardon the elementary question, but what all do I need to order to get it working/mated? A ferrule, endcap, and a gasket?

MFC fitting identification help!

Hi, I have a MKS 1259C mass flow controller and I'm trying to ID the fittings (photos below). I (very naively) saw that they were listed as VCR4 and I order a VCR4 to KF40 adapter, but they do not mate. They appear to have the same IDs, ODs, etc. but the threads of the female to not reach the male t...

Where to get custom-made fittings?

Hello all, I have an odd diffusion pump fitting, and I'd like to have a custom-fabricated adapter made, as well as at least 2 other similar adapters. Has anyone done this? Good companies to recommend? Does anyone here do this for a fee? I wish I knew enough about metalworking / had the tools to do i...

Re: Built a giant electromagnet for magnetized fusion and plasma research

Hi Rich, Great points about the conductivity. I looked up the specific alloy beforehand and got the electrical data and it did indeed fall a bit short of the standard quotes value for aluminum, but not enough to be too appreciable. Smart to have those figures beforehand. I talk more about the power ...

Built a giant electromagnet for magnetized fusion and plasma research

Hello all, I recently finished construction of a giant electromagnet, which I needed to continue my research into magnetized fusion (pre-magnetization for pinches) as well as exploring other topics in highly magnetized plasmas. I wrote a long post with technical information, equations, etc. in an in...

Re: High voltage capacitors

Hi Rich, I suppose some context would have been helpful. The capacitors are for a pulsed power project where (as you point out) inductance is the biggest issue. I'm looking for capacitances north of 30nF. Maxwell and General Atomics indeed make capacitors satiating my requirements, but they are pret...
