Re: Tritium!! We make it, sure, but can't use an atom of it!

Most of the tritium that is not fused in my system finds its way to the great outdoors. (vent/exhaust of the mechanical pump is piped outside). With a gentle breeze towards my side porch, our cats will get a bit of the oil mist/tritium vapor wafting over them. Otherwise, the tritium rises, as hydrog...

Heas attendees how is it going?

This is just a checkup on those attending the event. It has been alomst two weeks since the event. As I have had no feedback I am just checking....... Last year in the depths of Covid 19 none of the 34 attendees reported covid from the event, where about 60% were masked here at that time. This year,...

Re: Metering Data Logging Advice

I really can't imagine why the 10 bit resolution on the analog ports in the Arduino are not good for any analog signal sent to the Arduino. The largest number needed to be encoded to 10 bits might be your HV value. Does any livng being working at 60,000 volts really need better than 58 volt resoluti...

Re: Original ITT press release from 1960

It was the boost in their stock, regardless of the article size that just sent ITT into a frenzy, hiring architectual drawings of their proposed California fusion facility to feed the feeling that they were on a roll with fusion. Money, money money was the engine, not farnwworth, his device or the t...

Re: Another great analysis of power fusion - The dream

I agree with Pauls' synopsis on the article. Bringing the average unimaginitive, marginally educated citizen up to some genuinely useful background on fusion and its complexities at the power production end of the effort is a bridge too far. I do believe that the best among such folks can parrot, by...

Re: Original ITT press release from 1960

I have never seen the article, but bet it was released in the Wall Street Journal as their stock shot through the roof after the announcement. ITT began making bizarre plans to build a fusion research division in California complete with artist rendering of their proposed research center. Their jets...

Re: HEAS 32 Photos

John Fenley took this video of my rapid startup of fusor V to doing fusion (5min 20sec) from cold no vacuum startup to fusion. Jim Kovalchick, operating the stop watch, noting that the 5min, 20 sec was me narrating what I was doing as well, and this slowed the process a bit even at the fast 5 min+ t...

Re: byron addams fusor update

I still work with lead and cadmium in castings. Worked with the stuff for years. Let the stuff melt outside and only then approach, do your business with the molten metal and let that be it. A mask helps on big prolonged casting efforts, but I tend to shun masks when doing real involved stuff. As fa...

Re: High Voltage PSU for functional Fusor

The higher the frequency of any AC supplied to any multiplier, the better, assuming you can get that AC with some real power behind it and have the componenets that will work with it. 25khz is a great point used by many modern HV switchers that do not put too much of a strain on easily obtained comp...

Re: Another great analysis of power fusion - The dream

I agree with Maciek! As Bob Hirsch told me in 1999, if net fusion energy is to be found, the path lay in multi-directional efforts in a relatively small experiment. (compared to the mega-projects of ITER and NIF). The reason fusion funding languished in the 50's and 60's was a lot of different syste...
