Diffstak Vacuum Pump

<t>Hey guys, I just got my brand new (previousely owned) Boc Edwards Diffstak 63 (ebay special). <br/> <br/> It comes with a butterfly vacuum valve and I was wondering do I have to still use a knife gate valve, or can I get away with simply using the built in valve to seal off the chamber? <br/> <br...

Vacuum valving operation

<t>I am in the design stages of my vacuum chamber and I read that it is good practice to put a gate valves inbetween the diffusion pump and the vacuum chamber.<br/> <br/> My question is can this valve be closed while there is a vacuum in the chamber? Also if this valve is closed while there is a vac...

Re: Diffusion pump layout

My appologies for the confusion, I missed the fact that there was a dedicated forum for vacuum system.

Thanks for the help.

Re: Diffusion pump layout

<t>Just a quick question, the design of a vacuum chamber is entirely new to me, and I am running into specific issues surrounding the vacuum pumping system. Are there any good books that explain the design of a vacuum system from front to back? <br/> <br/> My current pump layout is to have a diff pu...

Diffusion pump layout

I am working on the second revision of my vacuum chamber for a fusor that I am hoping to build this summer (the first revision that I did last year, was not constructible within any reasonable budget). I am just wondering what is the optimal way to connect a diffusion pump to the vacuum chamber? In ...

Re: Fluorinert cooled grid nearly complete

Looks very impressive! You must have put quite a bit of engineering work into that, I just hope it doesnt burn out on the first run.

I have I think the same question, can the central grid be eliminated if the outer grid is positively charged?

Re: Shape of vacuum chamber

Here is a secondary question, does the inner grid have to be spherical? Can it be say a cube? I ask this more as a conceptual question.
